Gopal H. Badlani, MD, FACS, FRCS, is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Regenerative Medicine, and Urology, as well as the Co-Director of the Urology Department at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Badlani specializes in voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, neurological disease, pelvic organ prolapse in women, and incontinence from prostate surgery in men. His research lab has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and focuses on the etiology of interstitial cystitis and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Badlani earned his medical degree from the University in Mumbai, India. He then completed a clinical assistantship at Queen Mary Hospital in Sidcup, London. Followed by a residency in Surgery at Nair Hospital in Mumbai, India. Dr. Badlani then completed a residency in Surgery at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. He subsequently completed a residency in Surgery at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed a residency in Urology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Badlani completed a fellowship in Urodynamics at Baylor University Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Badlani serves on the editorial board of several journals and was managing editor of the Journal of Endourology. He has edited many textbooks and has authored more than 500 publications and book chapters. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology in urology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Badlani was Secretary of the American Urological Association (AUA), Urology Care Foundation (UCF), and the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons (AAGUS).
