Rakesh Shiradkar, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics and an Adjunct Professor of Urology, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, and Radiology & Imaging Sciences at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Shiradkar’s research focuses on developing machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in conjunction with quantitative and conventional MRI for image-based diagnosis and prognosis of prostate cancer.

Dr. Shiradkar earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee. PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He then completed his postdoctoral research training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Shiradkar has constructed multi-scale approaches integrating MRI, quantitative MR (MR fingerprinting) and histopathology using AI for developing efficient, non-invasive screening methods for patients with prostate cancer. Dr. Shiradkar is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute.
