Thomas F. Stringer, MD, FACS, is an associate professor and urologist in the Department of Urology at the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville. He is also the president-elect of the American Urological Association (AUA) for 2026. His clinical interests include prostate cancer screening, benign prostate disease, erectile dysfunction, and urinary tract infections.
Dr. Stringer completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, followed by his medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his residency in surgery and urology at the UF College of Medicine. Dr. Stringer then completed his fellowship in urologic oncology at Wayne State University.
Dr. Stringer has been a member of the AUA since 1984, and has served as a member of its Board of Directors since 2014. He has received many honors and awards during his career, including the Florida Urological Society Lifetime Achievement Award (2022), being named a US News Best Doctor (2019), and the AUA Presidential Citation Award (2010). He has also served as treasurer for the AUA, as well as received an honorary position on the Florida Urological Society Board of Directors. He writes and lectures nationally on the business of urology.
