Scott Lucia, MD, is a Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Pathology, the Chief of Genitourinary and Renal Pathology, and the Director of Research Histology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado. He also serves as the Director of the Pathology Shared Resource at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.

Dr. Lucia received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1988 and completed his internship and residency in Pathology at the University of Colorado. He was a research fellow in the Laboratory of Chemoprevention at the National Cancer Institute from 1993 to 1995 before returning to the University of Colorado in 1995. Dr. Lucia served as the primary pathologist for multiple clinical trials, including the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial and Vitamin E and Selenium Chemoprevention Trial, sponsored by the Southwest Oncology Group; the Medical Therapy of Prostate Symptoms trial, sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases; and the Reduction with Dutasteride of Clinical Progression Events in Expectant Management of Prostate Cancer, sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline. He directs the operation of several tissue and serum biorepositories for prostate and prostatic diseases, including those for the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial, the Medical Therapy of Prostatic Symptoms, the Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial, and the University of Colorado Cancer Center Biorepository. He has authored or co-authored over 230 peer-reviewed articles, reviews, editorials, and book chapters. Primary areas of interest include mechanisms of carcinogenesis, and prostate cancer pathology, hyperplasia, biomarkers, and early detection and prevention.
