Bernard H. Bochner, MD, FACS, is the Sir Murray F. Brennan Chair in Surgery and a Professor in the Department of Urology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York. Dr. Bochner’s main areas of expertise include radical surgical procedures for invasive bladder cancer and reconstructive surgery of the urinary system following radical cystectomy or pelvic exenteration.
Dr. Bochner earned his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed residencies in Urology and Surgery at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Dr. Bochner completed his fellowship in Urologic Oncology from the University of Southern California’s Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Bochner has authored and co-authored over 290 publications and has been featured in numerous accredited journals, including the Journal of Urologic Oncology, European Urology, the Journal of Urology, and the Journal of Oncology Practice. Dr. Bochner also leads the bladder cancer Disease Management Group at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which is composed of surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and nursing specialists. Nationally, Dr. Bochner has participated as a member of the TCGA project in bladder cancer, the urothelial cancer working group of the Genitourinary Task Force of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) for the last two staging revisions, and was a member of the American Urological Association/SUO/ASCO/ASTRO Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer guideline panel. He is a Fellow in the American Surgical Association, the Society of Pelvic Surgeons (secretary elect), and a member of the Society of University Surgeons, American Urologic Association, and Society of Urologic Oncology.
