Gladell P. Paner, MD, is the Associate Director of UChicago MedLabs and an Associate Professor of Pathology and Surgery at the University of Chicago in Illinois. Dr. Paner’s clinical interests include bladder cancer and genitourinary pathology. His research interests include bladder and kidney neoplasms, prostatic neoplasms, transitional cell carcinoma, and renal cell carcinoma.

Dr. Paner earned his medical degree and completed his internship at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Paner then completed a fellowship in Surgical Pathology, with an emphasis in genitourinary pathology, at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Paner is a member of the International Society of Urological Pathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He has authored three books, several book chapters, and 80 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focusing on urological pathology. He contributed to the most recent World Health Organization classification of genitourinary tumors and to national and international practice guidelines. Dr. Paner worked as a urological research investigator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the director of the immunohistochemistry laboratory at Loyola before moving to his current position.
