Jurgen Fütterer, MD, PhD, is a Professor and Interventional Radiologist at Radboudumc in Overijssel, Netherlands. Dr. Futter also serves as a Professor at the Robotics and Mechatronics group at the University of Twente in Overijssel, Netherlands. Dr. Fütterer specializes in prostate cancer, magnetic resonance imaging, prostate biopsy, and liver tumors. His clinical interests include implementing and performing oncological interventions with special focus on MR-guided interventions, such as MR-guided cryosurgery, focal laser ablation, and focused ultrasound surgery.
Dr. Fütterer earned his medical degree and his PhD on MRI techniques, emphasizing in the localization and staging of prostate cancer, at Radboud University Nijmegen in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He completed a residency in Radiology and a fellowship in Interventional Radiology/Body MRI at the University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Dr. Fütterer has published over 290 publications on MRI in prostate cancer. He has also introduced a robotic device for MRI-guided biopsy of the prostate, which has been established as a novel prostate intervention. Dr. Fütterer is the founder and principal investigator of the Minimally Invasive Image-Guided Interventions Center (MAGIC) research group at Radboudumc.
