Julia Maki, PhD, is the Supervisor of Public Health Research in the Division of Public Health Sciences at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. Dr. Maki has expertise in community engaged research, health disparities research, rural health, and implementation science. She is passionate about using patient-centered and community-engaged research practices to address social determinants of health and improve health equity.
Dr. Maki earned her PhD in Biological Anthropology at Washington University. After which she began working as a project manager leading public health research studies focused on cancer screening and prevention, cancer survivorship, health and risk communication, and health behavior change. Dr. Maki has authored and co-authored numerous publications and has been featured in the Journal of Cancer Survivorship, Translational Behavioral Medicine, and the Journal of Community Engagement and Scholarship.
