Summary

Sia Daneshmand, MD, Professor of Urology, University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, Los Angeles, California, speaks with Paras H. Shah, MD, Urologic Oncologist, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, about INLEXZO™, an indwelling intravesical drug-delivery approach for patients with BCG-unresponsive carcinoma in situ. They emphasize hydration as a proactive strategy for managing urinary symptoms and improving the patient experience.

The discussion focuses on the device’s physical behavior within the bladder.
The INLEXZO™ device floats rather than remaining fixed to one area of the bladder wall. Hydration helps maintain a fuller bladder, allowing the device to remain floating and reducing side effects, improving the patient experience.

Urgency, frequency, and other irritative voiding symptoms can affect patients during treatment, making proactive management and expectation setting important components of the treatment process.

The doctors emphasize the importance of clear communication and patient education and share additional strategies to address bladder irritation, including medications and adequate hydration, to improve the patient experience.
