Ann E. Stapleton, MD graduated from Harvard University with a degree in biology before going on to medical school and earning her degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York. She spent her residency and internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California-San Francisco, and finished out her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Dr. Stapleton has spent most of her career at a university hospital working with students, conducting research, and providing primary care. Her research includes molecular epidemiology and pathogenesis of UTI’s; clinical studies of risk factors for UTI; preventative measures for recurrent UTI and diagnostics; role of the vaginal environment in UTI; influence of host genetic factors in recurrent UTI; and probiotic lactobacilli and cranberry as non-antimicrobial preventative measure for recurrent UTI.
Dr. Stapleton has been practicing medicine for 33 years and is a Board certified professor with the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of IM/Infectious Diseases.
