Daniel Wood, MBBS, PhD, FRCS

Dr. Dan Wood is a professor of urology and the associate vice chair for pediatric to adult transition surgery at the Colorado University (CU) School of Medicine as well as the chair of adult congenital surgery atChildren’s Hospital Colorado. He has previously worked at University College London (UCL) Hospitals and as an honorary consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. His major interest and work is in the transition of healthcare from pediatrics to adults and adolescent and reconstructive urology—with an expertise in adult complex urological reconstruction, surgical aspects of bladder exstrophy, cloacal exstrophy, posterior urethral valves, disorders of sex development and neuropathic bladder.

He qualified from St Bartholomew’s Medical College in London in 1994 and completed his PhD at UCL, examining smooth-muscle physiology. Dr. Wood completed his higher training at the Institute of Urology where he was first appointed as a consultant in 2008.

He maintains an active research interest in the long-term outcomes of congenital urological conditions and basic science. He is widely published, and has served as a senior editor of the Journal of Pediatric Urology and has been an invited as a speaker and visiting professor across the United States and Europe and at many international meetings.
