Humberto Villareal, MD, MSCI

Dr. Humberto Villarreal, MD, MSCI, is a urological surgeon and assistant clinical professor in the Division of Urology and Urological Oncology at City of Hope in Duarte, California. Dr. Villarreal earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he also completed an internship in general surgery. A decorated veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, he was an intern in general surgery at San Antonio Military Medical Center and a resident in urology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he also received a master’s degree in clinical investigation. At the University of Colorado, he held a Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons Fellowship.

Dr. Villarreal has research interests and specializes in urinary tract reconstruction and cancer survivorship care. He also has research interest in healthcare disparities. Dr. Villarreal specializes in genitourinary reconstruction surgery using open and minimally-invasive and robotic techniques, along with men’s health, prosthetic surgery, and urinary diversion. A hallmark of his care is that he involves patients in decision-making, incorporating their values to create treatment plans that will enable them to survive cancer with dignity. Dr. Villarreal has received many awards for his research and military service. He is a member of the American Urological Association and is fluent in Spanish.
