Ilya Sobol, MD, is an Instructor in the Department of Urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Sobol’s clinical interests include advanced stone disease and neuro-urology as well as benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, bladder, and kidney. Dr. Sobol has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at national meetings.

Dr. Sobol earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Urology at Mayo School of Graduate Education in Rochester, Minnesota, and then completed Mayo University’s Endourology and Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery Fellowship. Much of his fellowship training focused on Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a procedure used for treating benign enlargement of the prostate and particularly suited for treating men with very large prostates or the complete inability to urinate.
