6 o’clock Single-use Digital Flexible Ureteroscope – Summary
Sung Youg Cho, MD, MS, PhD, explores advancements in single-use digital flexible ureteroscopes. In this 15-minute presentation, Dr. Cho emphasizes the benefits of the six o’clock working channel for endoscopic stone surgery.
Dr. Cho explains that traditional three and nine o’clock working channels limit visibility and maneuverability, whereas the six o’clock design enhances ergonomics, reduces wrist fatigue, and provides a more intuitive field of view.
Dr. Cho shares a video of his method, demonstrating how the new scope improves access to lower pole stones and optimizing laser fragmentation and stone retrieval. He discusses the advantages of the new channel design, including a wider endoscopic view, improved accessibility, and increased efficiency in stone removal. An innovative port seal accessory that stabilizes laser fiber and basket positioning reduces irrigation leakage and improves operative efficiency. Data suggest that precise fiber control can significantly decrease operative time and minimize unnecessary manipulation.
Dr. Cho emphasizes that integrating this technology into routine practice can enhance surgical efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and procedural success.
