Katz Distinguished Professor at Duke University Medical Center, where he is Professor of Urology and Radiology, as well as a Member of the Duke Cancer Institute. Dr. Polascik specializes in urology care, including nonsurgical focal cryotherapy for prostate cancer, robotic surgery for prostate cancer, and robotic surgical removal of kidney tumors. Dr. Polasick’s research focuses on prostate cancer imaging, focal therapy of prostate cancer, prostate cancer outcomes, kidney cancer outcomes, minimally invasive surgery, and nerve-sparing cryotherapy for prostate cancer.

Thomas J. Polascik, MD, FACS, is the Lawrence C. Katz Distinguished Professor at Duke University Medical Center, where he is Professor of Urology and Radiology, as well as a Member of the Duke Cancer Institute. Dr. Polascik specializes in urology care, including nonsurgical focal cryotherapy for prostate cancer, robotic surgery for prostate cancer, and robotic surgical removal of kidney tumors. Dr. Polascik received his MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland provided Dr. Polascik his Urology Residency (James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute), General Surgery Residency, and his Urologic Oncology Fellowship. Dr. Polasick is certified by the American Board of Urology. Dr. Polascik is the Founder and Co-Director of the International Symposium on Focal Therapy and Imaging of Prostate and Kidney Cancer, which began at Duke in 2008. Dr. Polascik is the Editor of Imaging and Focal Therapy of Early Prostate Cancer. Dr. Polascik is Founder and President of the Focal Therapy Society, as well as Director of Duke’s Society of Urologic Oncology Fellowship Training Program and the Genitourinary Program on Focal Therapy at the Duke Cancer Institute. Dr. Polascik is also the Medical Director of Duke’s Men’s Health Initiative Screening Event and is a governing member of several medical boards and societies. His clinical and research interests focus on prostate and kidney cancer. Dr. Polascik has authored over 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters
