En Bloc TURB – More Than a Safe and Feasible Surgical Technique

Summary:

Salvatore Micali, MD, discusses the pros and cons of en bloc transurethral resection of bladder (TURB) and its advantages over classical TURB. Specifically, he describes how en bloc TURB lends itself to correct specimen orientation, easier identification of the tumor growth front and whether the disease has invaded the chorion. En bloc TURB also allows for better determination of the deep surgical margin.
